The short version: Tabner is local-first. By default, everything you save stays in your browser and never leaves your device. Cloud sync is optional and only stores the data needed to sync your tabs, tied to your email. We don't run analytics, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
1. Who we are
Tabner ("we", "us") is a browser extension for organizing tabs into boards, groups and workspaces, published at the Chrome Web Store and at tabner.es. For anything related to this policy, contact us at hola@tabner.es.
2. Data we collect
2.1 By default (no account): nothing leaves your device
Without an account, all your data — boards, groups, saved tabs (titles and URLs), descriptions, notes, tags and settings — is stored locally in your browser using the browser's extension storage. We have no access to it and it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
The extension uses two browser permissions:
- tabs — to read the title and URL of your open tabs, only so you can save and reopen them. We do not track or record your browsing history.
- storage — to save your boards and settings in your browser.
2.2 If you enable cloud sync (optional)
If you sign in to Tabner Cloud, we store the minimum needed to sync your data across devices:
- Your email address — used only to authenticate you (we send a one-time login code) and identify your account.
- Your saved data — the boards, groups, tabs (titles and URLs), descriptions, notes and tags you choose to sync.
This data is stored on Supabase, our database and authentication provider, protected by row-level security so it is only accessible to your account. Login emails are sent from no-reply@tabner.es.
2.3 If you share a board or group publicly (optional)
You can generate a public link for a board or group. Anyone with that link can view the tab titles and URLs it contains (private notes are never included in public links). You can revoke a public link at any time from the extension, which immediately disables it.
2.4 What we never collect
- No browsing history or page content — only the tabs you explicitly save.
- No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking of any kind.
- No ads and no third-party trackers.
- No passwords — sign-in uses one-time email codes only.
3. How we use your data
We use the data described above exclusively to provide the features of Tabner: saving and organizing your tabs, syncing them across your devices, and serving the public links you create. We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose. We do not use your data to train AI models.
4. Data retention and deletion
- Local data — remains in your browser until you delete it or uninstall the extension.
- Cloud data — remains in your account until you delete it. Deleting boards or groups in the extension removes them from the cloud on the next sync. Signing out stops all syncing.
- Account deletion — email us at hola@tabner.es and we will permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. You can export all your data at any time from the extension (Settings → Data). For any other request, contact hola@tabner.es and we will respond as soon as possible.
6. Security
Cloud data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with row-level security, so each account can only access its own data. Authentication uses short-lived one-time codes instead of passwords. Public links use long random tokens that cannot be guessed.
7. Children
Tabner is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes affecting cloud users will also be announced in the extension.
